Yesterday, Mezco Toys kicked off their search for a “Tomb with a View” as they debuted the unique time capsule they have created for their celebrated line – Living Dead Dolls. Media and fans alike were invited to the Ripley’s Believe it or Not Odditorium – Times Square in New York City for this auspicious occasion. It’s no secret that Mezco has always had a flair for the dramatic, and this event was no exception. The time capsule Mezco unveiled was shaped like an old “toe pincher” casket and featured a metal Living Dead Dolls logo on the lid. Such a special casket could not be transported in just any vehicle however. So, the folks and Mezco found a very special delivery vehicle: HEARSULA! This modified hearse boasts a unique paint job, as well as some very cool touches and decoration.
And, of course, a vehicle this unique must have an equally unique driver…..
They actually drove this hearse INTO THE LOBBY OF RIPLEY’S, which made for a truly remarkable sight. Then, out of the back came the casket and it was processed over to the place where it would lie for the remainder of the event, with the lid removed.
It was carried into Ripley’s and set in place by the three co-creators of the Living Dead Dolls: Ed Long, Damien Glonek, and Michael Markowitz, who is affectionately known to most of us in the media as “Mez”. The lid was removed showing off the contents: a variety of Living Dead Dolls from across all of the 16 years of their existence. While the product inside, Mez posed with the lid.
After the product was ready, the three co-creators held court for a bit, posing for photos together.
Afterwards, the co-creators posed for pictures with some of Mezco’s truly dedicated Living Dead Dolls fans, some of whom had been outside Ripley’s since 6am!
Here is a look at the inside of the casket
And, finally, the three co-creators were joined by Mezco Toys Special Project Director: Mike Drake
Also, as an even more fantastic exclamation point to this extraordinary event, Mezco gave 160 luck fans an exclusive Living Dead Dolls metal Challenge Coin.
Thanks to the staff at Ripley’s and Mike Drake and the gang at Mezco for an unforgettable time.
