TOY FAIR 2010: BANANAGRAMS

Next up from Toy Fair is the game that captured the coveted Toy of the Year Award last year: Bananagrams

Though best known for their signature game, the Bananagrams company actually plans to have six games available by the end of this year. Here is their planned lineup.

BANANAGRAMS® (SRP: $14.95), named Toy Fair 2009’s “Game of the Year’,” is a fast and fun anagram game that drives players bananas! Requiring no pencil, paper or board, Bananagrams comes in a small portable banana shaped pouch and is perfect fun for kids from 7 – 97 years-old, at home or on the go.  Created by a word game-obsessed family of three generations, Bananagrams is a labor of love that that has quickly become an international phenomenon.  Bananagrams is available online as a free Facebook Application and on the iPhone™ and iTouch™.  Bananagrams recently launched in Spanish, French, Norwegian and German as well as in a larger version – DOUBLE Bananagrams, the big banana for the larger bunch (for 16+ players)!

Appletters® (SRP: $16.95 ) is a domino-like game for ages six and up where players connect letters in lieu of dots.  The game comes in an apple-shaped cloth pouch containing 110 ivory-like tiles.  In addition to the version for a younger audience, the game also includes instructions for more adult play – APPLE TURNOVER™ for an extra challenge and APPLESCORE™ for word lovers who like to have fun with palindromes and semi-palindromes.

PAIRS IN PEARS® (SRP: $16.95) is a word construction game for ages six and up where players race to make pairs of connecting words in matching patterns.  PAIRSinPEARS comes in a pear-shaped cloth pouch, containing four full alphabet sets in four beautiful distinct patterns.  The game provides educational fun for children learning vowels and consonants, alphabetical order, word construction and pattern recognition.

ZIP-IT™ (SRP: $14.95) is a super fast anagram game that can be played in as little as twenty seconds.  ZIP-IT, for ages six and up, features 24 ivory-like letter cubes in a unique cloth scoring pouch. The ability to play compactly on a tray in a train or on a plane make it the ultimate travel game.   ZIP-IT will be packaged with Weords, Bananagrams’ all-new mini-dictionary featuring “weird words that win word games” (i.e., “Q” words that do not have a “U”), and a handy scoring pad and pen.

OH-SPELL!™ (SRP: $11.95) is a card game for ages six and up which combines the concept of four patterned suits with the 26 letters of the alphabet.  The result is a game of infinite possibilities, in which all of the permutations of word creation are virtually endless.  OH-SPELL! will be packaged in a handy cloth travel pouch along with Weords and a handy scoring pad and pen.
