Professor Layton is back! Has the puzzle packing prof. come back with another hit on the DS?
This is the sequel to the quirky and successful Professor Layton and the Curious Village. It again follows the adventures of Professor Herschel Layton and his assistant Luke. This time, Professor Layton recieves an urgent letter from one of his oldest colleagues, who has apparently located the Elysian Box, an artifact which is said to bring death to anyone who opens it. Worried for his friend, Layton and luke decide to pay him a visit. Upon arriving, they find him dead. The only clue they have is a ticket for passage on the enigmatic Molentary Express. Layton and Luke board the train, with no idea of what lies at journey’s end.
Like in the last game, the bread and butter of this game are the puzzles. They come in all shapes, sizes and diificulties. Some will make you feel like a genius, others will make you feel like an idiot. The story is well written and features another quirky cast of characters, including some familiar faces from the first game.
Despite all that however, it is most likely you are playing this game for a second helping of the brain-bending puzzle goodness that you got from the first game. That is something that this game is more than willing to deliver.
Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box gets 4 brain bending head scratches out of 5.
