DOCTOR WHO SERIES 10 LAUNCH CENTER

After a long absence from our screens, the Doctor is back, at last, for a 12 episode series that will see the proper introduction of Pearl Mackie as the new companion, Bill Potts. We will also see the surprise return of Matt Lucas as Nardole. We last saw Nardole in the Christmas Special, The Return of Doctor Mysterio. This time around, Nardole will be traveling with Bill and the Doctor on some of their adventures.

The Doctor will be again portrayed by Peter Capaldi, which will make this his third series as the Doctor. Sadly, it will also be his last, as he has announced that he will leave the role, and his Doctor will regenerate in this year’s Christmas Special.

Also bowing out this year is Lead Writer and Showrunner Steven Moffat. Moffat leaves the show after six series as Showrunner, shepherding the tenures of two Doctors and three companions. (It might be four, but we don’t know Bill’s final fate yet). He is also responsible for filling in the “missing links” on-air regarding the timelines of the Eighth and Ninth Doctors, as well as the introduction of the amazing War Doctor, played by the late John Hurt. He will be succeeded by Chris Chibnall, who has written for Doctor Who before, but is best known for being the Showrunner of the absolutely brilliant Broadchurch, starring Doctor Who alums David tennant and Olivia Coleman.
