NYCC: Venture Bros Panel

Participants: Chris McCulloch, Doc Hammer, Michael Sinterniklaas

The panel started up at 8ish, to an extremely anxious crowd, desperate to meet the creators of their beloved show. Chris and Doc were there, and after a phone call from Doc, Michael showed up late. This was mostly a Q&A session, pretty much un-moderated. We got to learn a little about Doc Hammer’s women baking cookies for him fan base, and how Brock Samson is based off of Michael (not really). We also learned, thanks to an astute question from a fan, that yes, Hunter Gathers is based off of Raoul Duke from Fear and Loathing. We also learned that Pete is an albino and Dr. Girlfriend has a really deep voice.

What we REALLY found out was…

– The more then likely possibility of a Robot Chicken/Venture Bros. crossover (no doubt spurred by the new toys)

– the T-Shirt of the Week line will not be coming back . The demands of printing a new one every week were a bit much for the team.

– Doc Hammer: “Spoiler Alert! Expect to see more women in bras.”

– A Venture Bros. movie is always on their mind, but it must be done with a company who respects and understands their show. That said the creators don’t feel a burning need to get one out anytime soon.

– The season finale will have Hank uttering a line that the co-creators think is one of their funniest ideas.

So aside from lots of great costumes and lots of fanboy/girl obsession, not too much was gleaned from them! Doc Hammer made it clear not to ask any “are you gonna” questions, insisting that “Just watch the damn show.”
