Mattel WWE Special Feature: RAW Superstar Ring Review

Well, now that Mattel has unleashed their WWE Superstars on toy shelves everywhere, it seems only fitting that there should be someplace they can work out their aggression. Enter the Raw Superstar Ring.

MATTEL WWE RAW SUPERSTAR RING REVIEW

Mattel continues to impress with their WWE line. The excellence and attention to detail evident in the figures is carried over to the ring that they square off in. The RAW Superstar Ring is one of three themed rings that was released by Mattel in January, alongside the first series of action figures. Mattel’s rings fix some of the biggest problems inherent in the Jakks rings and continue the quality this line is quickly becoming known for.

The RAW Superstar Ring comes with the mat and base preassemble. They are accompanied by four plastic ringposts, one of which has red elastic ropes wound around each of it’s three turnbuckles, a decal sheet and an instruction sheet.

The ring is extremely easy to assemble. The ring ropes are cut to the exact length necessary and are attached to one post already. You simply need to put all the stickers on, attach the ringposts, and attach the ropes to the back of the four turnbuckles.

The mat does away with the previous system of elastic ropes to create the spring of the mat. Instead, there is a spring in each corner. The new mat feels incredibly responsive and is definitely a step up.

The ring posts are thicker than Jakks’ and, as such, do NOT bend inward when the ropes are added. The ropes themselves are pre-cut and looped so that there is no unsightly knot  to try and hide. Having been cut to exactly the right length, the ropes are extremely responsive and much more elastic than in the past.

Also, the ring has a scalloped bottom and the plastic at the top of the apron is scrunched up to replicate the top of the apron. ALso, the sticker that you apply to replicate the ring skirt is among the finest I have even seen, with an incredible graphic, including wrinkles.

The ring seems to fit between 20 and 30 figures.

I cannot wait to see what it looks like when Mattel comes out with their version of the “Real Scale Ring.” For now, however, this ring is more than adequate.

Mattel’s WWE RAW Superstar Ring gets a 4 out of 5.
