Time to visit one of our old friends. We have had a happy association with Underground Toys for many years, due to their association with a property very near and dear to our hearts: Doctor Who. And, it has been my great pleasure to watch their booth and company grow as Doctor Who’s popularity exploded. They are a great group of people top to bottom. The only problem with seeing them at Toy Fair is that all the stuff you want to see is usually behind a curtain, in a “secret room.” But, let’s see what I can tell you.

So, Underground has some great Ghostbusters, Star Wars and Anchorman items. But, nothing is as widely distributed as their Doctor Who items. So, that’s what we’re going to concentrate on, and with a changing of the guard in the title role, it is where the most intriguing and hotly anticipated items reside. So again, being careful to stay within the “cone of silence”, what can I tell you?

Well, that about covers it. DON’T THEY LOOK GREAT!Not exactly, but close to it. I can tell you that there IS a Peter Capaldi 3.75″ Figure. It DOES EXIST! In fact I can tell you that most of what you’ve seen from the UK Toy Fair exists. I can also tell you that the Angels Take Manhattan and Hide playsets exist and are scheduled for release. I can also tell you a number of long lost 5″ figures are being re-released. There are also some neat new talking plush, including the 11th Doctor in his purple coat (with, of course, the obligatory fez), the 10th Doctor, the 4th Doctor, Clara and everyone’s favorite Sontaran butler, Strax.  Underground is also handling the release of the extraordinarily popular Figurine Collection. You should also be on the lookout for the “Other Doctor” from the 50th Anniversary Special. Other than that, I can’t say much,and I don’t have many pictures of new items, but there are a few cool things that eagle eyed readers will spot. Here’s my gallery from Underground.

UPDATE 2/28 – I have been given permission to tell you about the next series of 3.75″ figures, which are due to hit shelves in just a few short weeks, making the first time a figure set has been had a simultaneous release in the US and the UK.

The next wave of Doctor Who 3.75″ Action Figures will consist of

• 12th Doctor Regenerated (Peter Capaldi head/Matt Smith clothes)
• 11th Doctor in Tweed Jacket
• Clara Oswald in Red Dress
• Zygon (from Day of the Doctor)
• Weeping Angel (New Screaming Sculpt)
• Dalek with sensor arm
• Dalek with claw arm
