Toy Fair 2011 – Mezco

Coverage of Toy Fair continues with a company that is quickly becoming one of my favorites: Mezco. This year, in addition to adding to their most successful lines, Mezco is also pulling the wraps off of a huge new license. It’s a certain 80’s animated property of a feline nature. Have I peaked your interest yet. Well, in this case a picture is worth a thousand words. Here’s Mezco’s line-up.

Thundercats – So, there you go, the cat is out of the bag. Yes, I know the pun is terrible, but I used it anyway. Mezco has a license for 18″ Collector figures based on the classic 80’s style. Lion-O is the first figure scheduled. He is currently slated to have 7 points of articulation and he will come with his Thunderclaw gauntlet and, of course, the Sword of Omens, in extended form. The detail is incredibly intricate and faithful to the original source material. For example, Lion-O’s Thunderclaw gauntlet only has 4 fingers on it, but when you take it off, Lion-O has 5 fingers on his hand, just like in the show. His retail is expected to be around $40.

The first series of figures is out already. Series two, shown at Toy Fair, consists of Sackboy (Denim), Sackboy (Dragon Headdress) and Sky. Also shown was a 9in. white, DIY figure, which allows you to color it however you want.
