Toy Fair 2011 – Mezco

Toy Fair 2011 – Mezco

Coverage of Toy Fair continues with a company that is quickly becoming one of my favorites: Mezco. This year, in addition to adding to their most successful lines, Mezco is also pulling the wraps off of a huge new license. It’s a certain 80’s animated property of a feline nature. Have I peaked your interest yet. Well, in this case a picture is worth a thousand words. Here’s Mezco’s line-up.

Thundercats – So, there you go, the cat is out of the bag. Yes, I know the pun is terrible, but I used it anyway. Mezco has a license for 18″ Collector figures based on the classic 80’s style. Lion-O is the first figure scheduled. He is currently slated to have 7 points of articulation and he will come with his Thunderclaw gauntlet and, of course, the Sword of Omens, in extended form. The detail is incredibly intricate and faithful to the original source material. For example, Lion-O’s Thunderclaw gauntlet only has 4 fingers on it, but when you take it off, Lion-O has 5 fingers on his hand, just like in the show. His retail is expected to be around $40.

Friday the 13th – Mezco will be producing a vinyl Jason Voorhees figure that will come with: an axe, a spear and a severed head. In addition, it will feature cloth clothing and a removable mask.

SAW – Rounding out the horror movie trio, Mezco will be producing a vinyl figure of the Jigsaw puppet from the SAW franchise

Little Big Planet – The first game was a huge hit. The second one is quickly following suit. For those of you who can’t get enough of Sackboy, Mezco has you covered. The first series of figures is out already. Series two, shown at Toy Fair, consists of Sackboy (Denim), Sackboy (Dragon Headdress) and Sky. Also shown was a 9in. white, DIY figure, which allows you to color it however you want.

Mez-itz – Mezco continues their line of 2 and 6 inch vinyl figures, while also continuing to utilize their newly acquired DC Universe license. Both lines of Mez-itz will have tie-in product fot this Summer’s Green Lantern film. You can expect 6in. and 2 in keychain figures of Hal Jordan and Sinestro. There will also be a main DC Universe line, consisting of 6 inch single figures, 2 inch figure two packs and 2 inch key rings. here are the lineups. These figures look great, and in the blast from the past, anyone who remembers Kenner’s old Super Powers line will be instantly familiar with the type of capes the 2 inch figures are wearing.

Finally, there will be a 2 inch figure and vehicle set: Batman with the Batmobile. The Batmobile will feature a detailed cockpit removable top and room for a second passenger.

Scott Pilgrim – Building on the success of the recent movie and the subsequent spike in interest for the original graphic novels, Mezco is producing two 6 inch figures, based on Scott’s Graphic Novel look.

South Park – Mezco returns to the little mountain town and re-introduces toy shelves to four foul-mouthed boys and their friends and neighbors.
