Toy Fair 2015: LEGO

Star Wars

Easily one of the most popular themes, LEGO’s first license shows no signs of slowing down as momentum builds towards the highly anticipated release of Episode VII: The Force Awakens, the first new Star Wars film in 10 years. There was NOTHING shown for the new film at Toy Fair, but to tide you over until the movie sets come out, LEGO is releasing some really neat sets based on the Rebels animated series and on key moments from the movie saga.

5 sets are planned for a June release. They are:

  • 75091 – Flash Speeder – 312 pcs – $29.99
  • 75092 – Naboo Starfighter – 442 pcs – $49.99

THEN IN SEPTEMBER……..?????????????????????????????????

But, aside from all of that, the Star Wars license will also expand into an exciting new area with the launch of the Star Wars Constraction line. This are Bionicle-type figures of some of your favorite Star Wars heroes and villains. On display at Toy Fair were the Jedi Luke and Darth Vader figures.

I am so happy to see a return to form for Ninjago. I was personally not a fan of the “cyborg” look and storyline. I love the new spectral aspect and the new dragons being added and the chance for those who missed out the first time to get their hands 0n the Destiny’s Bounty flying ship is a nice bit of fan service.

Legends of Chima

LEGO’s original IP featuring different animal tribes and their quest for “Chi” rolls on with 3 new sets for the rest of the year, releasing in August. They are:

    • 70225 – Blodvic’s Rumble Bear – 415 pcs – $39.99

Not too many sets from Chima for the rest of this year, but that giant crocodile is spectacular!
